History[]
He seems to be the one in charge when Listrata comes to the Pheneket Islands to conquer them for her thesis in Chapter 2. After the Pheneketian army he leads is defeated, he continues to resist and is eventually executed by for treason by Listrata.
Tournament[]
In Tournament the character is named Shofet Daru.
Ability[]
Daru's ability is: +1 Card Draw +1 Hand Size
This Allows for him to start with 5 cards in hand, and be able to use 4 of them, allowing one to be left behind for the pocket. It also means that he has a better economy, and can more reliably afford particular cards. He is also able to redraw allies particularly quickly.
Favorable Cards[]
Daru can utilize a number of ally cards simply due to his higher redraw rate. He can also utilize cards such as Shrine of Rebirth or Rite of Brood/Rite of Combat particularly well. An important thing to note is how his most important early game part of the deck can be as expensive as 5 gold, so combo's such as Brigand+Cutpurse on turn 1 or a separate Underworld Barge can force the opponent to use a large quantity of resources.
- Most Daramek and Vespitole Allies
- Shrine of Rebirth
- Rite of Brood/Rite of Combat
- 5 cards such as Underworld Barge
- Banker
Strategy[]
Note: strategies can be diverse, this will only cover a few of the possible strategies.
Daru's core typically either revolves around Rite of brood/Combat damage or planting scary Daramek, Endazu, or Vespitole cards on the field. He can also play quite a few allies particularly early, making his early game remarkably strong.
Decks relying on Rites should try to insure they have either Synod or Deceit(preferably deceit) to maximize resource generation or damage. Decks relying on allies could go for Repopulate or Feast, to insure redrawing allies, you may also want to keep food generating cards such as curry favor to insure that your allies do not die out too quickly.
For both of these strategies, Shrine of Rebirth can be a lifesaver as it may allow you to receive a rite immediately upon turn end or a particularly useful ally upon it's death. Stratagem or Sibylline Scrolls are also particularly useful, increasing chances of redrawing. Ceremonial Dance as well can assist by providing more allies or rites.
