Update History[]

  • 2014-07-24: Reduced base cost by 1 (to 9)
  • 2014-03-25: Card released

The upgraded version of Palisade, Rampart costs four more than Palisade for twice the durability. At this level, whatever you put behind a Rampart is highly likely to survive a turn in a neutral board, but that's three turns of saving to buy one turn's safety, so you had best bring an economy ramp to justify the expense. It's worth noting that for three more gold, the Knight comes online which can be healed, attacks, and retaliates.

The offering here is the best protection Vespitole can buy - it isn't subject to most discard effects, can't be seduced, and absorbs considerable damage, the most efficient in cost per life in the faction (1.75 life per gold).

Unfortunately, Rampart's competition tends to outshine it in both directions; Palisade comes online faster and cycles quicker, while Knight has offensive teeth and can be healed. Rampart occupies a strange gulf between these two cards and doesn't quite find a niche of its own in that space.
