Just as the wind can be harnessed to mill, so hath their prayers, bend to His will.

–Inscription, Holy seat of Gallius

Notes[]

Prayer, the last and most expensive of the Vespitole cycling actions, trades off an extra gold of cost in exchange for producing a magic, which can fill the roles of all the other resource types. The flexibility makes Prayer a safe choice as a cycling action - it's never a useless effect, which Spice and Collect Taxes can be guilty of.

Vespitole action decks benefit from flexible tools, because their decks are inherently unreliable; Prayer also helps power a Wrath of God engine for Pocchi or Ysadora as a quick cycling action that helps power up Wrath.

Prayer suffers two problems; in terms of resource cost, it takes a long time to be profitable, five plays to break even - and it comes down at the same cost as Supplicant, which puts a two-health body on the field that can heal itself for free and produces a magic each turn. If a player needs offense, they can be best served by Intrigue for a gold cheaper, and if they want flexibility Supplicant beats it out and is, arguably, more reliable.
